A forthcoming book - Agha Hasan Abedi, BCCI and a vision beyond banking
The Visionary and His Bank follows Abedi’s journey from his early banking career to the creation of United Bank Limited and BCCI, an international bank rooted in the developing world.
It explores his belief in people, trust and lasting relationships, his approach to management, and the sense of belonging he encouraged through the “BCCI family”. It also follows his wider vision through philanthropy and programmes supporting health, education and development.
The book will examine the serious failures within BCCI alongside Abedi’s achievements, the purpose behind the Bank and the circumstances that brought it to an abrupt end.
Completing the BCCI Insights website is the first step. Its documents, research and personal accounts will provide the principal foundation for the book, preserving Abedi’s life, work and vision in a permanent published record.
