BCC International No. 4 - July 1980

The influential magazine, The Banker, which is published by the Financial Times, has featured the Bank of Credit and Commerce well up on its 1980 list of the world's top 500 banks. In terms of total assets, BCC is 290 in the international league, while as per deposit it works out at 259.

When our President, Mr Abedi, then President of the United Bank (Pakistan), first visited the Trucial States in 1965, he returned with a vision of the area's future. Calling his colleagues together he gave a fascinating picture of the potential prosperity where none existed before. As part of his plan, he arranged a grand reception in Karachi attended by numerous influential visitors from the Trucial States. But it had a serious side - it was all part of Mr Abedi's plan to build the fortunes of his bank and the area.
