Ministers visit in Cairo

Agha Hasan Abedi congratulates Dr Ahsanul Hasan Khan on the completion of his PhD thesis on organisation and management in banking. Dr Khan is an officer with the National Bank of Oman. His doctorate was awarded by the Century University in California. One of the conclusions of the study is that vision is an essential part of banking.

BCC honoured in Miami

The authorities of the city of Miami, in Florida, have bestowed the key of the city on BCC Miami's A. R. Sakhia. This is in recognition of BCC's activities in the region. Mr Sakhia accepted the key on behalf of all family members in Miami.

Last July, Agha Hasan Abedi met the Finance Minister of Luxemburg, M. Jacques Santer. M. Winning with travellers cheques

As part of BCC's marketing campaign, all members of the British Airways American and Canadian Reunion Club who buy our travellers cheques have a chance to win a free air ticket to North America. Mrs Heather Boucher and three of her colleagues from British Airways came to the UK regional office on 8 September to help with the firstever draw. The winner was Mrs L Kirby of Leeds, who bought her travellers cheques at the Headrow branch.

Canton Trade Fair

The biannual Canton Trade Fair is the most important event of its type in China. It is a meeting place for Chinese corporations and businessmen from all over the world. Representatives of the Far East regional office and the Beijing office attended the latest fair, to promote BCC's services. Turnover at each fair is between $3 billion and $4 billion.

Mr Akbar Nawaz

TO HIM WE BELONG AND UNTO HIM WE RETURN

We mourn the tragic deaths of two of our family members who perished in an air crash near Abu Dhabi. We offer our sincere condolences to the bereaved members of the families and fully share their grief.

Mr Akbar Nawaz, who was on the unfortunate flight 771, joined banking 23 years ago and had been associated with BCC since 1976. His last assignment was as head of the Advance Control Department and member of the Management Committee of BCC (Emirates). An able banker, and a good, likeable human being, he has left behind a widow, four children and a bereaved family of 9,000 persons.

Another family member on flight 771 was Mrs Shabnam Tariq, wife of Mr Tariq Rasool, in charge of Book Keeping, Corporate Unit of BCC SA, Abu Dhabi.

May their souls rest in peace.

Amen

Mrs Shabnam Tariq
