Claims by the Liquidators of BCCI, Court Proceedings, Settlements, Articles

On 5 July 1991 western central banks announced their decision to abruptly shut down the Bank of Credit and Commerce International (BCCI), a multi-national bank with an international structure. The Abu Dhabi, UAE, majority shareholders considered the action was unjustified.

  • Money Judgements - In the High Court of Justice, Chancery Division, London, United Kingdom: BCCI -v- former Employees  (see Claims against Liquidators BCCI, Court Proceedings, Settlements).
  • The liquidators of the Bank of Credit and Commerce International unconditionally discontinued their action against the Bank of England and 22 of its present and former staff on 2 November 2005: Bank of England News Release 12 April 2006 
  • Order for Costs against the liquidators of the Bank of Credit and Commerce International for discontinuation of claim of the Three Rivers District Council and others against the Bank of England: 12 April 2006
  • Court of Appeal: Three Rivers District Council v The Bank of England: This appeal is a consequence of the previous judgment of this Court on an earlier disclosure application where the Court decided that documents prepared by employees or exemployees of the Bank of England with the intention that they be sent to the Bankʹs solicitors  whether or not they were prepared for the dominant purpose of obtaining legal advice were not privileged and should be disclosed. Judgement 1 March 2004.

Judgement 22 March 2001
