
AROUND THE BCC WORLD
Here is a first glimpse of some images from the world of BCC from photographs of employees (members of the BCC family), people, events, and memorable moments in BCC's history published in the bank's in-house magazine, BCC International. The selection includes photographs contributed by BCC employees and their families and those obtained from other sources. Some are duplicated in other section pages where photographs are immediately associated with specific subject matters.

United Arab Emirates: Najat Sharaf who overcame blindness to gain a BSc degree in Mathematics. She was the top achiever in the project, BCC(E) Gulf News Project. sponsored in 1988 by BCC (Emirates) Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, with the leading local newspaper Gulf News, to identify and reward people in the local community who attained extraordinary achievements against the odds and made a positive impact on society. On June 7,1989, the achievers, including Najat Sharaf, and their proposers received their prizes and nomination certificates from Mr Bashir Tahir, general manager of BCC (Emirates), at a colourful ceremony held at the Hotel Inter-Continental, Abu Dhabi.

United Arab Emirates: The wooden cabin that was the birthplace of BCC (Emirates) Baniyas branch in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. On January 28, 1987, six people stepped into a wooden cabin measuring 40ft by 12ft, and BCC's Baniyas branch was open for business. Just three years later, staff numbers trebled, and the branch occupied an imposing new building owned by the bank.

United Arab Emirates: BCC (Emirates) and BCCI jointly represented the BCC Group at the annual Dubai Money Show, an event for banks and other financial institutions organised by the World Trade Centre, Dubai. A total of 48 financial institutions participated in the show.

Bangladesh: At the inauguration of the official opening of Bank of Small Industries and Commerce Bangladesh Ltd (BASIC), a joint venture by the government of Bangladesh and the BCC Foundation. This heralded a new era in development banking in Bangladesh.

United Kingdom: G-Mex Business to Business Exhibition in Manchester with a BCC marketing team at a stand to promote the bank's services and products to an expected 19,000 visitors. The purpose of the exhibition was to allow companies the opportunity to market their products directly, within a marketing-oriented environment. Also represented at the exhibition were 500 other businesses from a wide commercial spectrum to whom BCC had the opportunity of introducing its financial services. An experienced Letter of Credit marketing team was present at the stand throughout the exhibition. All leads and contacts from manufacturers and businesses in the North West England were followed up by BCC branches in the Manchester. FROM LEFT: MR Y. M. PATEL (MANCHESTER), MR A.
